Romina Llanes
Romina was born in Buenos Aires and moved to Miami about twenty years ago. She spent that time in design: luxury residential, construction, home staging and hospitality. Urbanika Shades is what she built out of it, and window treatments are the only thing the company does.
That background is why the conversation about your windows starts with the room and not with a catalog. Which way does the glass face. What time of day do you use the room. What are you trying to stop: the heat, the glare, the neighbors or the sunrise. The product comes after those answers, not before them.
Every project runs through her, in English or in Spanish, from the first measurement to the last bracket. That is the whole reason a small company can be worth calling: there is one person accountable, and you get her on the phone.

What we can prove, and what we will not claim
There is no state contractor license for interior window treatments in Florida. The Department of Business and Professional Regulation says it plainly: some construction work, window treatments among them, may not require a state license. Miami-Dade’s list of construction trades has no category for window coverings either. So if a company in this trade advertises a state credential, ask which board issued it.
The A+ from the Better Business Bureau is a rating, not a membership. It is calculated from complaint history and it is free. Accreditation is a paid program and we have not bought it, which is why the line on this site reads A+ rating, not a BBB Accredited Business. Written any other way it would be misleading, and the BBB itself says so.
The photographs on this website are supplier catalog images. They show the products we sell, not jobs we finished. When we can publish a finished project with the owner’s permission, it will say whose home it is.
The buildings we know from the inside
A lot of this work is done in towers where the association has rules about what the street-facing side of your window may look like, and where a vendor does not get past the loading dock without paperwork. That is the part of the job that takes experience rather than fabric.

Why this website is in Spanish too
Because in Miami-Dade, Spanish is not a courtesy. Choosing an openness, a mount type and a lining is a technical conversation, and we would rather have it in the language you think in.
Romina was born in Buenos Aires, so this was never going to be a translation plugin. The quote, the measurement and the installation can all happen in Spanish, and the Spanish pages of this site are written, not translated.

How long has Urbanika Shades been in business?
Since 2011. Urbanika Interiors, LLC was registered with the Florida Division of Corporations that year and is still active, and a second entity, Urbanika Shades LLC, was added in 2023. Both are public record and searchable by document number.
Do you hold a contractor license?
Florida does not issue one for interior window treatments. The Department of Business and Professional Regulation lists window treatments among the trades that may not require a state license, and the Miami-Dade construction trades list has no category for window coverings, blinds, shades or draperies. We would rather tell you that than imply a credential that does not exist.
Is your A+ the same as being accredited by the BBB?
No, and they are separate on purpose. The rating comes from complaint history and costs nothing. Accreditation is a paid program that does not change the rating. Ours reads A+ rating, not a BBB Accredited Business, and the profile is linked on this page.
Who actually comes to my home?
Romina, and the same team that will come back to install. The person who took the measurement is accountable for the fit, which is the reason we do not hand the job to a subcontractor.
